Short Story: The Forgotten Hat

The short story, The Forgotton Hat, takes place in the same universe as the book Searching for Mom and the other books in the series. The main character of the story is a minor character in the second book in the series. In terms of the timeline, this story takes place after Searching for Mom and just prior to or at the beginning of the second book in the series.

Gene James is the senior pastor of First Baptist Church. He is quite old and is making preparations for a day when he can step aside and let another man take his place, but this story is not about that. This story is about the significance of his actions on one July morning.
